Love Note: For the Weeks Between Flowers

Buying flowers is a lovely intention. Remembering to buy them every week is a different skill altogether. Love Note leaves room for both versions of you: the one who comes home with a bouquet and the one who remembers flowers halfway through making dinner.

The vase takes its inspiration from origami. Folding is a simple idea with a lot going on: a change in direction creates an edge, an edge catches the light, and a flat-looking shape suddenly has depth. Love Note brings that interest into the shape of a vase, so the vessel itself has something to contribute.

That makes it worth choosing a place where you can see the folds. Try a shelf at eye level, or a side table with a little space around it. If it's surrounded by lots of small things, take a couple away and see what happens. You may find you prefer the simpler arrangement. You may also discover the pen you've been looking for.

When you do bring flowers home, let the vase and the stems share the attention. Start with fewer stems than you think you need, step back, and add more if the arrangement wants them. A favourite vase doesn't have to disappear underneath the bouquet.

On the weeks without flowers, there's nothing to fix. Keep Love Note out, move it to another shelf, or pair it with something familiar. The folds still have their shape, and you still have something you chose because you liked looking at it. The flowers can catch up later.
